Truck dealer diagnostic tools: MAN, Scania, DAF, Iveco and Volvo
Every European truck maker has its own dealer software and its own vehicle communication interface (VCI). A multi-brand tester reads faults and handles many adjustments. New ECU software, online programming and coding a replaced control unit usually need the brand's OEM tool with a valid licence.
Below you find, per brand, the dealer tool workshops use, the interface that goes with it and what Automotics supplies for it. We run the OEM tools through Seone, our platform that brings several OEM diagnostic tools together in one environment.

MAN: MAN-cats III with the T427 VCI
MAN-cats III is the test and diagnostic system of MAN Truck & Bus for trucks, buses and NEOPLAN models. The MAN T427 is the current interface. It works only with MAN-cats III and supports both diagnostics and offline programming, in the workshop and on the road.

Scania: SDP3 with the VCI4
Scania Diagnos & Programmer 3 (SDP3) is Scania's diagnostic and programming software. The VCI4, developed for Scania by ACTIA, replaces the older VCI1, VCI2 and VCI3 and connects over Wi-Fi, USB or Ethernet. It reads fault codes, reconfigures control units, adjusts parameters and runs active tests on the engine, gearbox, brakes and body systems.
We supply the Scania VCI4, the Seone update licence for Scania SDP3, a complete Scania SDP3 kit and an upgrade bundle.
DAF: DAVIE4 with the Bosch 6534 VCI
DAVIE4 is DAF's dealer software. The DAF/PACCAR 6534 is the interface Bosch developed for it. Together they give access to the diagnostic, configuration and programming functions DAF dealers use. The 6534 connects over Wi-Fi, USB or Ethernet.
We supply the DAF/PACCAR 6534 Bosch VCI, the Seone update licence for DAF DAVIE, a complete DAF DAVIE 4 kit and an upgrade bundle.
Iveco: E.A.SY. and UDT with the Core XS
Iveco uses two dealer programs: E.A.SY. and UDT. The IVECO Core XS by Actia is the official interface developed for UDT. It connects over Wi-Fi, USB or Ethernet.

Volvo Trucks: Tech Tool with VOCOM
Volvo Trucks uses Tech Tool (Premium Tech Tool, PTT) with the VOCOM interface. Renault Trucks belongs to the same group and uses Renault Tech Tool. Note that VIDA with the DiCE interface is the dealer tool for Volvo cars, not for trucks.

Programming a truck control unit
A replaced control unit needs the right software and the vehicle's parameters. You load them with the brand's dealer tool, which fetches the software online from the manufacturer. That is why you need an active licence on top of the interface. With the Seone update licences (one per OEM tool, valid for a year) you download and install ECU software, code modules and use the latest technical data.
OEM tool or multi-brand tester?
Multi-brand truck testers are strong at reading and clearing faults and at most adjustments on mixed fleets. The OEM tool gives dealer depth: every control unit, software updates and online programming. The European type-approval rules (Regulation (EU) 2018/858) require manufacturers to give independent workshops access to repair and maintenance information, so an independent workshop can work with the dealer tool too.

Our Verdict
No single tool is best for every truck. Pick the dealer tools of the brands you see most often. If you mostly work on one brand, its OEM tool gives you the same depth as the dealer. If you work on several brands, Seone combines several OEM tools on one workstation, with one update licence per brand.
