THINKCAR Mercedes-Benz Security Gateway License (1 year)

The THINKCAR Mercedes-Benz Security Gateway (SGW) License grants authorized access to the secured systems of Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with this security layer starting from model year 2020. Mercedes-Benz introduced the SGW in response to EU Regulation 2018/858, which obliges manufacturers to protect electronic vehicle systems from unauthorized access via the OBD port. Without a valid license, the SGW limits communication between the diagnostic device and the vehicle to only reading fault codes and a limited dataset, while active functions remain blocked.

What is Unlocked
With an active license, the technician restores full diagnostic access to secured Mercedes-Benz systems, including calibrations, actuator tests, module initialization, and the complete clearing of fault codes on modules that would otherwise be blocked by the gateway.

Validity and Activation
The license is valid for 1 year from activation. After purchase, the license is linked to the serial number of the Thinkcar device and automatically added to the device's digital wallet. The license is personal and not transferable to another device.

Compatibility
Available for devices in the Thinkcar Thinktool series. An active software or update subscription for the device is required to activate and use the license.
